Quilters Synopsis
Anyone who owns an heirloom quilt has probably heard their grandmother
re-live stories through the quilt, remembering the origin of each scrap
of material. That type of story telling is represented in the musical
"Quilters". As the women sing and dance, they stitch together symbolic
narratives of the joy and heartbreak, desolation and survival in the
rugged life of the pioneer woman. They describe the long trip west in
covered wagons, homesteading, Indian raids and prairie fires, as well
as courtship, marriage, child rearing and burying the dead.
These stories make for an inspirational night of theater and will be
enjoyed by mothers and daughters alike.
