Louise, Edith and Hattie Mayo, were the mother and wives of Charlie and Will Mayo, founders of the Mayo Clinic. These three very different women all made unique contributions to the Mayo legacy of healing. Their stories include one woman who went blind, Rochester’s first professionally trained nurse, survival of the 1883 tornado, the architectural design of buildings and boats, tending to the wounded and refugees during the Dakota uprising, as well as raising families and hosting dignitaries from around the world. Celebrate March, Women’s History Month, with us.
